I just returned from Argentina where I fired my new Beretta 391 Urika 2 20 ga almost 5000 times over four days. My bird boy's cleaning consisted of pulling a bore snake through the barrel and wiping down the outside - no more. The gun functioned perfectly all week. However, it did appreciate the thorough cleaning I gave it upon return home to Alaska!

I acquired this ULTRALIGHT O/U keeping in mind its light weight and balance (exclusively for tough walk up shoots in the highlands), and it surely delivered beyond my expectations. I have used this gun for partridge, quail, pheasant, dove and early teal shoots. I would advocate for the Ultralight as the finest and the most practical shotgun for a hunter on the go. Today I am addicted to the Ultralight for my upland adventures and the 391 Urika for waterfowling and upland shoots. I have added a recent picture. Happy hunting!

I started shooting at a summer camp when I was either 9 or 10, and I've enjoyed it ever since. I fell in love with shotguns when my Boy Scout troop went to a gun club in north Georgia for an entire day of shooting sporting clays. On my 16th birthday (about 3 months ago) I received the AL391 URIKA.
For the following month and a half, I was at the range every single Saturday and Sunday. I then developed bone marrow edema (excessive, swollen bone marrow) in my shoulder and was unable to shoot for a month. I have gotten back to the range every weekend. Since then, I have begun competing in a league on the weekends. I have shot a very large variety of shotguns ever since I started shooting seriously, and none have out-performed my current URIKA.

Well, my ES-100 Pintail delivered yet again. Two one-shot kills on deer in Virginia. One at 72 yards and the second at 36 yards. I shot a doe on opening day 2007 after missing a running buck and dropped a buck on Thanksgiving Morning 2007. The pictures speak for themselves. This gun delivers.

I am still using the A390 with no urge to buy another shotgun. I would love to boast that I have fired more than 10000 cartridges through it without any malfunction and the shotgun still looks to serve many more seasons.
Also, Beretta sure has become a status symbol in our neck of the woods (Pakistan).

I purchased this gun used. I love the design and look of the gun. I just came back from our outdoor range and was amazed by the performance. The gun was phenomenal. I shot 200 rounds of Federal hollow point. With the hard sites, it kept a 3 inch grouping at 30 yards. The gun never jammed and worked flawlessly.
Field stripping was a snap and clean up was easily. For all the naysayers out there, all I can say is that they must not own one.
Thanks for the awesome firearm.

an AL391 Xtrema Shotgun for the past 6 months for many different
purposes. I have to admit that it is the finest gas operated machine
with the least recoil I have ever used. It doesn't matter if the
sport is waterfowling, hare shooting, quail hunting or partridge.
It even works brilliantly on skeet. In a continuous run, I have
shot 400 cartridges without a single stick.
With no doubt this is the best gun I have ever used and I am sure
it beats every other competitor.

I
wanted to share a picture of my first trophy of a Russa Deer with
17 inches long antlers, shot in Mauritius (an island in the Indian
Ocean) on November 25, 2006. The deer was taken at a distance of
120 m with my Tikka
T3 Hunter equipped with a Burris Fullfield II scope.
The deer was first spotted at a distance of 300 m. Even though
I was confident about taking a shot, I preferred approaching it,
mostly because of the dense and tall shrubs. I did not want to risk
losing the animal or having to search for it. The stalking and approach
were also difficult due to the shrubs, but fortunately the wind
was blowing into our face. When we sighted the deer a second time,
we were at a good distance for taking a clear shot. The first shot
hit the deer in the lungs and made the deer jump high in the air.
On touching down, it started running across the shorter shrubs.
A second shot was taken just to stop the deer and to ensure we reach
the animal immediately. The second shot hit the deer in the heart
and the deer dropped down on the spot.
I am very happy with my trophy; however, I am still looking for
that 30 inches trophy. I am sure I will be able to trust my Tikka
T3 Hunter and Burris Fullfield II to complete the job once I find
the animal.
Thanks Tikka. Thanks Burris. And Thanks Beretta.

Prior to purchase,
I was using another brand shotgun and every time I fired it, there
was a jolt to my shoulder--Wow! I was hesitant to use it in a treestand
unless well supported and I probably missed a couple of good shots
due to hesitancy. This is my first year with the Extrema2 3 1/2
and it actually has less recoil than any shotgun I have fired! I
am comfortable in my stand or on the ground. My first kill was a
large 9 pointer moving at a pretty fast pace. The gun was so comfortable
I didn't even know I had fired. I'm 70 years old and I feel this
was a great investment because it brought back confidence

A few years back I
owned a Beretta A303 in 12 ga. At the same time I purchased a Browning
A5 auto. I loaned my Beretta to my brother and I took the Browning
hunting on opening day of dove season. It was a rainy day, of course.
After only a little while in the field I had problems with the A5.
It started to jamming. I got to looking at the shotgun and noticed
that not only had the varnish started washing off the stock but
that the stock was splitting horizontally up the stock. The gun
my brother was using, the Beretta, was working just fine. I had
a hard time convincing Browning of what happened. They said it was
a duck blind gun and was suppose to withstand this kind of weather.
Well of course the Browning was made in Japan and till this day
I will never own another Browning. By the way, I just purchased
a new Beretta AL391. I can’t wait to try the new gun out.
Thanks for the fine craftsmanship you put in your guns.

Only one thing excites
me more than the flush of a wild covey of bobwhite quail and that
is harvesting that Southern prince with a good, reliable double
barrel. My name is Adam Stinson. I am 15 years old and I love bobwhite
quail hunting. I live in Alabama which, compared to most states,
has a pretty good population of wild bobwhite quail. This is how
I harvested my first one....I had received permission to hunt the
property adjacent to the one I was on so I began making my way there.
When I came to the fence, I broke open the action of my Beretta
686 Onyx and began to cross. After crossing, I looked at the ground
and cover was thin and thought to I thought to myself "no birds
will be here". so I began walking with my action open. That
is where I made my mistake. About 10 yards in a covey of about 15
little brown rockets exploded at my feet. I quickly closed my action
and raised my gun. Being to excited
I missed the first one and quickly acquired a new target. I fired
and drop my first quail. The ground that I thought had sparse cover
concealed on large covey of the greated game bird that inhabits
this earth and I could not even see them. After the shot, out of
fear of losing the bird, I quickly ran to where I saw it fall. At
first I was scared that I would never find it but, after about 3
minutes of searching, I did. It was a beautiful male. And it was
wild. That made it even more special. I quickly ran home and cleaned
the bird hoping to preserve its delicious meat.
I would like to thank Beretta for making, in my opinion the best
o/u shotgun is the world. I now own 5 beretta's and they are all
incredible guns. Even the automatics are awesome....
Whether in the south or the midwest, quail need our help. So do
all you can to make sure that future generations can hunt these
blessing from above. Take care and safe hunting.

duck/goose hunting gun dilemma
Submitted By: John
M. McDonald
Product: Xtrema2 |
Q: I was wanting to
know if anyone has hunted with the Onyx Pro 3.5 in a 12ga. using
3.5" magnums for ducks/geese. Mainly, I was wanting to know
what the felt recoil was like? I hunt upland birds with a Beretta
Onyx 686 in 20 ga., and I was looking for a duck gun that wouldn't
beat me to death with 3.5" magnums. I didn't necessarily want
to change actions; therefore, the Onyx Pro 3.5 was my first pick.
However, the Xtrema2 looks tempting, but I would like to know if
there is a significant difference between the Onyx Pro 3.5 and Xtrema2
on felt recoil? Also, I didn't notice on Beretta's website whether
the Xtrema2 came in left hand models. Any help or advice would be
greatly appreciated.
A: John, Yes, the Onyx Pro 3.5 is specifically made for the purpose
of duck and goose hunting! The receiver and barrels feature a subdued
less reflective blue finish. Also, you'll note that this gun has
X-tra Wood Stock and forend which makes the stock less impervious
to moisture thereby reducing the chance of stock swelling which
can occur when walnut is subjected to wet conditions. This product
is for the waterfowler who prefers to shoot an Over/Under shotgun
and is less affected by recoil.
Yes there is a significant difference in recoil between the Xtrema2
and the Onyx Pro. The Xtrema2
offers 6 recoil reduction features to make it the softest shooting
autoloader on the market.

A: The Beretta Mato rifle (discontinued in 2002)
was based on a Dakota Action. The Mato featured a fully adjustable
trigger for overtravel and weight of pull, a select American walnut
checkered gloss finished stock with black forend cap, ergonomically
designed bolt handle, extra soft rubber recoil pad and drop out
magazine. The receiver of the Dakota is drilled and tapped for Weaver
style scope mounts and fitted with a muzzle break on the end of
the matte oil finish walnut stock (no sights). The Length of Pull
(LOP) for the Mato rifle was 13.5 inches with an Overall Length
(OAL) of 44.5 inches. The stock comb rise was 14.5mm/0.56"
and the heel drop was 21mm/0.81". The Mato was available in
the following calibers: .270 Winchester Magnum, .338 Win. Mag. and
.375 H&H (Holland and Holland) Magnum.

Q: I am looking
for a good shotgun for hunting quail and upland game birds. Should
I consider a 26" or 28" barrel?
A: Barrel length considerations should take into account the
game, gauge, shot presentation, physical size of the shooter, and
the shooter's shooting style: swing through, sustained lead, etc.
Most shooters are well served with either 26" or 28" barrel
length for upland hunting as the shot presentations are usually
within 20 yards. A good barrel length for an "all around"
O/U is 28". In short, choose the barrel length that you feel
most comfortable with.

Hungary
is the heaven for Roe Bucks World Record Trophy. This year I have

Q: I would like to know if in the US there is knowledge and
interest for Roe Bucks?
A: Beretta has been conducting Roebucks hunts for many American
hunters for ten years now. There are a growing number of American
sportsmen who are beginning to understand Europe’s fascination
with this wily little buck. Two years ago one of our hunters Chris
Wyatt took the heaviest Roebuck in Hungary (2003), 758 grams.
In 2004 our first group took eleven gold medals bucks and this
year the first American group yielded seven gold medals by themselves.
During this season a buck of 810 grams was taken in an area right
next to ours.
The first hunt for 2006 already has six hunters lined up.

Hi,
this is wonderful dove hunting in Peru. We shot 150 doves in one
morning. WE ALL HUNTED WITH BERETTA SHOTGUNS.
My uncle has shot his Silver Pigeon, nearly 100,000 rounds. You
have to see the gun, it seems like new.
Look
the photos, they are fantastic. The dog is only 3 months old, and
is all ready retrieving.
Have a good time!

I wish him success in his endeavors. If he likes, he can contact

What barrel size...
Submitted By:
Al from New Jersey
|
Q: I'm interested
in purchasing a Beretta over and under but since its by first shotgun
I'm concerned about the size of barrel. I'm tall and have long arms,
does the size of the barrel matter or is it strictly dependant on
what I intend to use it for? I would like a O/U shotgun that I could
use for clay or bird hunting (mainly pheasant hunting)
Thanks Again, Al
A: Normally, selection of barrel length is geared to the
type of game the gun will be used for. For example, grouse hunting
usually takes place in tight cover and shot presentations are generally
fairly quick - so typically a shorter barrel length is preferred.
Conversely, certain types of duck hunting typically provides a longer
shot presentation. In this case, the extended sighting plane of
a longer barrel is generally preferred.
In all cases, barrel length considerations should take into account
the game, gauge, shot presentation, physical size of the shooter,
and the shooter's shooting style: swing through, sustained lead,
etc.
Most shooters are well served with either 26" or 28"
barrel length for pheasant hunting as the shot presentations are
usually within 20 yards. A good barrel length for an "all around"
O/U is 28"

In March of 2004 I
purchased a Beretta ES-100 Pintail at a Friends of the NRA dinner
in the live auction. I bought it to use as a hunting gun and supplement
my existing collection. Needless to say it has been a work horse
this past season accounting for pheasant, quail, chukar and 4 deer
with the slug barrel. I also use it for clay target shooting and
it is a blast to use for all the above game animals. This gun shoots,
and shoots well. The slug barrel wears a Trijicon scope and is deadly
accurate. The 28" bird barrel works very well with all of the
choke tubes. To bad it has been discontinued in the United States. |

This

I live in Wyoming and my brother lives in Virginia, so I have missed
most of my nephew, Justin's, childhood. So I was very happy when
they came out for Christmas. Justin had never shot at a bird of
anything up to this point, but my Uzi (my english setter) and Beretta
were about to change that. Justin hit the first three birds he shot
at with his trusty Silver Hawk. My brother and I did well with our
Beretta's also. Him with an Onyx and me with a 28ga Silver Pigeon.
Thank you Beretta for helping me create memories.

After being away from any upland hunting for nearly 20 years, we
found ourselves empty nesters. An old college friend got me back
interested in shooting and I borrowed one of his guns, a Beretta

After that, I went out and bought my own — a 686 Silver Pigeon
model and have been back into skeet, trap and hunting as often as
I can. The gun is just unbelievable to handle, beautiful to look
at and even my non-hunting wife agrees!

I have a Beretta three inch shotgun. I am only twelve years old
and it was my first time goose hunting. A flock of geese came over
and I shot and missed. The other people with me got a goose or two
so I was a little mad. When the next flock flew over the other guys
with me got a goose. I take a shot and I just hit one and it goes
down. So I have one goose while the rest have two. The person calling
the geese had to go find his goose that was a long way away. When
our caller left to find his goose a huge flock of geese came and
the other guy with me doesn’t have a call so we hope the geese
come in and they do. All I see is a huge thing of black while the
geese try to land by our decoys. “BOOM” the other guy
shoots and misses. Then I see a big flock of geese in front of me
I take a shot and “BOOM” I get three geese in a shot.
Two dropped right away and the other one I had to shoot on the ground.
Well, all three of us that day got four geese each and I am a twelve-year-old
beginner. A 60+ year old retired and a 30-40 year old, still at
his prime, all got the same amount of geese. If we could of got
all the geese that came we would of had over 10,000 geese. Not all
of them came, lots were in the distance. If you want great hunting
like this come to Waterhen, Manitoba. We have lots of every animal.

friendly gun on the market and holds up to anything I put it through.
I average 200 dove, 50 ducks and 15 geese a year. I have taken at
least 1 of everything I hunt with my Xtrema in 03-04 season including
a cowhorn buck and 2 turkeys and unsure of dove and waterfowl. I
shot 700 sporting clays one day without cleaning and never had one
single mechanical problem whatsoever. Want a true shooting, true

I like to go deer hunting as often as possible. I usually use a

30/30 in the later part.
Here is the problem: Most deer show up running across your path
with in 50 yards in dense woods. Needless to say I could not wait
to take my CX4 out. After mounting and sighting in my Aimpoint Comp

Purchasing Over/Under
12 gauge

Q: How do you
determine which shot gun fits your needs and can you use the same
shot gun for field and competition?
A: The condensed answer to the first part of your question
is that proper selection of a shotgun varies greatly depending on
the intended use. Hunting birds such as grouse and woodcock would
suggest a shorter 26" barrel to facilitate shotgun swing in
dense cover, close-quarter shooting. Conversely, competitive FITASC
shooting where target presentations sometimes exceed distances of
60 yards suggest the longer sighting plane and follow-through momentum
of a 32" or 34" barrel.
With respect to the second part of your question: you can use the
same shotgun for field and competitive purposes. The origins of
competitive shotgun shooting derived from the need of hunters to
obtain some off-season practice. Over time, competition improved
shooting skills and competitors began to look for improvements in
their shotguns to increase their scores. From this, specialized
competition guns were born. So, a field shotgun can double as a
sporting clays gun...but to maximize your performance at your local
gun club - one should consider the specialized competition shotgun.

I wanted to share this
with the rest of the Beretta community:
In 1972 when I was only 13 years old, my family went to Europe.
I really wasn't very excited about leaving and missing the opening
of dove season. So my Dad told me that if decided to stay home he
would bring me back a Beretta from Italy. As you can all imagine
I jumped at the opportunity and 11 months after labor strikes and
other import issues, my new 12 gauge SE56 O/U (I am not sure how
much the guns cost my dad, but I could care less) it was and still
is today a beautiful gun, two sets of barrels skeet/skeet 26 inch
and mod/full 28inc.
Without exaggerating I have shot well over 80,000 rounds with it.
Skeet, Dove, Ducks, Snipe, I even shot wild pigs and 2 deer with
it. Maybe 80,000 rounds is not too much for some of you 24/7 shooters,
but to me this is a lot of shooting. Add to the fact that this gun
as never malfunctioned, this is in my opinion incredible.
Thank you Beretta, for making my life a field a memorable one.

Secondly, I have a suggestion: create (mold?) a place in the stock

This is the first
time I have ever done this, but I wanted to say that after 45 years
of owning 30 or 40 different rifles, with six still in possession,
that the 7mm-08 T3 Lite I bought last December is the finest rifle;
regardless of make, model, or price, that I have ever owned and
shot.
It has everything I want in a rifle from front to rear —
great trigger, functional design and weight, and the bottom line
for all rifles for me is that it SHOOTS! The first time I zeroed
it, I put nine rounds in a quarter at 100 yards with a 15 to 20
mph crosswind. I was the police department's anti-sniper and shot
competitively in the Army. I'm currently working for Gander Mountain
in the gun department in Appleton, Wisconsin. I have had not one
dissatisfied customer who bought a Tikka T3 in any model, finish,
or caliber. Over the last six months, I have sold over 30 Tikkas
and currently have customer orders for six more as soon as we can
get the guns in. I merely inform the customers of the gun’s
features. After that they sell themselves unlike any other make
or model of rifle that we offer. I have never had an out of the
box rifle like my 7-08. I'm so pleased with it that I just bought
one in .308 Win. Only complaint I have is that the rifles and magazines
are hard to come by at this time of year. And, Beretta doesn't offer
any Tikka hats/apparel, so I had my own hat embroidered with "TIKKA."
I'm a fan, as you would guess. Keep making the T3 and faster!

I settled on the Beretta 3901 in the synthetic gray. I got a chance

There were thousands of Snows and puddles to shoot at. We hunted from

When I got back to Florida it took me about a weeks worth of cleaning
