During the late 70s-early 80s, I owned three different little
Beretta Model 950Bs in .22 short caliber. One was an older
Italian gun, one was marked "made in Brazil," and
the third was American-made, which, I guess made it a 950BS.)
The 950B made a neat and tiny little kit gun and I was always
impressed with its accuracy. One day I decided to test the
accuracy on my old Lee Machine Rest. I jerry-rigged the little
gun to a gun holder designed for a High Standard pistol and
tried two ten shot groups at 25 yards with two different brands
of .22 shorts. The two ten shot groups measured 1 1/4 inches
and 2 inches. A less shaky machine rest probably would have
improved those groups, but clearly the little guns were accurate.
I regret that I never had a 950B with the longer 3 5/8 inch
barrel.
I long ago sold my old 950Bs and now have a Model 21 which probably
is more useful and as accurate, although I have not rest-tested
it.
I opine that the .22 LR would benefit more than the .22 short
from a longer barrel. I have a long one made for the .22 short,
and one day I may get around to rechambering it to .22 LR and
fitting it to the essentially similar Model 21 frame.
