INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
DESCRIPTION: Plan the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. Responsibilities involve facilities planning, management, manufacturing operations research/ systems, production and inventory control, quality assurance and applied statistics, and ergonomics, and management of several departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Study functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplication. Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization. Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work-flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment. Assist in managing Hazardous Waste at facility as needed. Must have initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management and Shipping training. Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations. Examine and recommend improvements in the manufacturing processes relating to design review, value engineering, production specifications, line balancing, and standards. Maintain quality assurance programs, process control, system reliability and data analysis, hypothesis testing, using applied statistics. Coordinate Lean Production activities and assist with TPM implementation. Facilitate planning for capital budgeting, economic feasibility analysis, and related financial data. Provides overall management for Industrial Engineer, Facilities, Maintenance, Tool Crib, EPA/OSHA/Security, Chemical Engraving, and Metallurgy Lab.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Science/Math/Engineering. 5 to 7 years Industrial Engineering experience. Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Ability to apply computer skills; software application and programming. Must have strong interpersonal, organization, time management and mathematical skills. Must be able to work in a professional office environment.
