SR. PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for all matters, related to the product (firearm) design. This includes research and development, design, improvement, problem solving, testing, procedures, internal correspondence and documentation.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum four years experience required. CAD experience in two-dimensional drafting and three-dimensional solid design. Conventional drafting experience helpful (ink on mylar film). Experience with automatic pistol design and function.
Knowledge of small arms design and manufacturing methods. Dimensional and tolerance relationship, tolerance studies (metric), familiar with 3 Sigma design and manufacturing concept. Geometric tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5). Problem solving abilities. Mathematical skills. Background in FEM analysis a plus. Computer skills (PC and CAD). EDS Unigraphics preferred. Interpersonal skills. Knowledge of manufacturing, machining, finishing and assembly methods/processes helpful.
Drafting skills. Knowledge of material science. Familiar with the most commonly used materials and related heat treatments in the field.
Experience in small arms design and function.Develop test plans, and conduct, manage and control product testing. Write, together with Marketing, technical product procedures and specifications.
Design and evaluate new products and components. Investigate and introduce product improvements (cost, performance, manufacturability, quality, etc.) Generate CAD product drawing (at least two-dimensional drafting, and preferably three-dimensional solid designs). Assessment and verification through calculation and/or FEM analysis of: 1) proper, as expected, functioning of mechanisms, 2) Components mechanical stress and consequent related expected duration. Investigate and solve product-related problems. Planning of product innovation process. Product strategic design and product development. Triz and GTI techniques integration as a tool for constant innovation. New technologies forecasting. Innovation through patents, trade marks, design and authorship’s rights. Development of virtual prototyping, modeling, innovative materials and technologies. Implementation of the innovative theory of problem solving (Triz). Management of intellectual property and patents according to national, European and international laws and regulations. Development of the tools needed to get and maintain ownership of the patents. Constant effort to bring about a “design to process/design to simplicity” (design to cost) concept.

DESCRIPTION: Supply continuous flow of requirements, and material to R&D, Production and Finance while achieving design and quality objectives of Beretta USA’s Engineering Team. Manage the purchasing function and buyer personnel in accordance with company standards to achieve commitments and company deadlines
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Manage, coordinate, and execute the activities of purchasing supporting projects and programs by securing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies needed to develop and test all new product programs. Develop and executes instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures. Prepare and issue purchase order and deliver conditions to determine present and future materials availability. Prepare market analysis reports and excel spread sheets to track and manage each individual project. Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy and project targets and goals. Develop and install clerical and office arrangements to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines. Negotiate contracts with foreign sales and distribution centers. Select and confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; some related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Planning and sourcing preferred. Proficiency in Excel, Word and Access required. Ability to work in a professional group office environment. Excellent communication skills; both oral and written. Strong computer skills in MS Office and JD Edwards preferred. 3-5 years manufacturing purchasing management experience or equivalent. Experience in a prior supervisory capacity required.
