Real confidence is the mark of a champion. This confidence comes from knowing that you have put in your time honing your skills and that your equipment is the finest available. Get quality instruction to perfect your skills, and choose the right BERETTA shotguns and gear to cover your equipment needs, and you will be ready for the next tournament, whether it’s the club championship, or the world championship.

I was raised in the Carolinas with hunting and shooting as a way of life, but it wasn’t until attending college that I had the chance to shoot competitively. Wofford College had a rifle team, and it was there that I found my competitive nature. Since that time, I’ve gone on to compete in various pistol and rifle disciplines. In the mid 90’s, I was asked to shoot on a Sportsman’s Team Challenge team, and it was there that I started shooting clay targets with a shotgun. We won the Team Challenge [Sportsman’s Class] in ’96, but by that point I was totally addicted to Sporting clays.

In 1997, I shot FITASC for the first time, and I knew that I wanted to work my way to the top of this international sporting discipline. I have since represented the US on TEAM USA at 3 world FITASC Championships, 5 times at the Pan American FITASC Championships, once at the World Compak Championships, and once on the Sporting Team USA at the World English Championships winning 7 team gold medals, and 1 silver. Individually, at the Pan Am FITASC I’ve won 1 gold and 2 silver medals, and at the World FITASC in Signes, France, I won the Bronze. In 2005, I was selected to Captain TEAM USA for the World Championships in England, and while individual glory has its moments, I’ve never been more proud than leading these fellow competitors in the international arena.

I was lucky enough to meet Dan Carlisle the first year I started shooting clays, and he took my enthusiasm and channeled it into an organized shooting method. I owe Dan greatly for accelerating my growth in the sport. Through Dan’s guidance, I started instructing in 1998, and made it my full time career in 2004.

Very early on, I started shooting a BERETTA semi-auto, as it is the only semi-auto that could stand up to the volume of shooting I required. While I enjoyed shooting my ‘auto, the first time I handled a DT10, I knew I had found the gun that would help me realize my shooting potential. For my tastes, the DT10 handles better than any other O/U I’ve tried. Nimble, without being whippy. Stable, without being overweight. The Optima Bore provides terrific down range performance, and the DT10 action is exceptionally durable. My original DT10 has a documented 250,000 rounds through it and is still running fine. Without BERETTA, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
