In-Factory Armorer Training Course

Beretta USA Factory Armorer Training Courses are scheduled the first week of each month for Law Enforcement and Military Personnel at the Beretta USA Headquarters in Accokeek, Maryland, outside of Washington, DC. The course covers the model 92/96 series and its variants. This is a hands-on practical course that provides Department Armorers with strong detail of disassembly, reassembly, troubleshooting and repair of the Beretta products. An exam is given to ensure the student understands the information and that the most proficient Armorer returns to his/her Department or Unit.

C. R. VANDERSCOFF III

“Van” is the lead Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor for Beretta U.S.A. Corporation. His duties include research, development, scheduling and teaching Tactical Shooting Schools, Transitional Training Courses and In-Field Armorers Courses on the Beretta pistols.

Prior to coming on board with Beretta U.S.A. , Van was providing international training and consulting services both in the private and public sectors specializing in Firearms Training and Tactics. He gained extensive experience in the firearms field after serving 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Military, which included one year in active combat during the Vietnam War, and 23 years with the Connecticut State Police. Van is well known as a presenter at national and international Law Enforcement training conferences and seminars and has more than 20 years experience as a firearms and tactics instructor. He gained recognition implementing training programs for the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces in Saudi Arabia.

Van is certified and continues to train law enforcement firearms instructors nationally in the pistol, shotgun,and sub-machine gun so they may acquire their national law enforcement firearms certification through the National Rifle Association.

Van is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, Connecticut State Police Alumni Association, Police Association of Connecticut, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Life Member of the National Rifle Association.

Len Lucas Biography

Len Lucas is the Manager of Beretta USA Law Enforcement Training Division. His duties include research, development, scheduling and teaching tactical shooting schools, transitional courses and Armorers courses with Beretta firearms. Mr. Lucas has trained students to include personnel from the FBI, DEA, CIA, DIA, Federal Air Marshals, State Department, state and local law enforcement, as well as every branch of the US and some foreign military service.

Mr. Lucas is a former United States Marine with 13 years active duty experience. He is a combat veteran who has participated in military operations all over the world. He duties encompassed all aspects of land, sea and air warfare applications, extensive training in various small arms, small unit tactics, demolitions, unconventional warfare and maritime operations.

Additionally, Mr. Lucas currently serves with a major Virginia Sheriff’s Office as a patrol officer and with special units in the department.

CHARLIE COATES

Charlie is an Air Force veteran and is retired from the San Francisco Police Department with 29 ½ years of service. Charlie worked 3 years in patrol, 7 years in the Tactical Unit, and 20 years at the Pistol Range as a Firearms Instructor and the Department Armorer. He has been teaching Armorer classes both nationally and internationally for Beretta USA since 1997.

Corey Gumbert
Biography

Mr. Corey Gumbert is the Law Enforcement and Military Administrator and Trainer for the Beretta USA Training Division. His responsibilities include research, development, scheduling and assisting in training courses.Prior to becoming a member of the Beretta USA training team, Corey served in the United States Air Force Security Forces. In his five years of experience he has performed Personal Security Missions, Law Enforcement duties, Flight line security, Armorer duties, Survival Evasion Resistance Escape training, Desert Warfare Training, anti-terrorism training, and has served as an Emergency Services Team Member. Corey also served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and in various other countries world wide.

In-Field Armorer Training Course

The In-Field Beretta Training Academy Armorers Course is an in-depth program that has been established to provide training at hosting Departments. The course is designed to give Department Armorers a challenging and practical course on the features, design and function of the 92/96 series. The in-field courses are 3 days.

The In-field Armorers Course and Tactical Pistol Course can be combined into a 5-day course.

In-Field Tactical Pistol Course

This 3-day course is designed to enhance survival pistol skills. Emphasis is placed on safe handling and weapons control. The skills developed in this course are designed to help save lives and will benefit tactical teams in close quarter situations.
