One
of the many virtues of Beretta premium guns is that
they are as durable and tough in the field as they are
exquisite and beautiful on the rack. Beretta premium
guns are designed to withstand the rigors of even the
most demanding hunting conditions. If you observe some
simple care and maintenance tips, your Beretta shotgun
or rifle will keep functioning perfectly even after
many years and many scores of thousands of rounds.
As with all double-barrel guns, you should wipe the
barrels with a conventional bore mop, and lightly oil
them after each session in the field or at the range.
Also, the barrels' exterior should be coated with a
light film of oil before storing the gun.
Always keep the rear surface of the fore-end iron lubricated
- that is, the section of the fore-end iron that makes
contact with the front of the gun's action. When the
gun is opened and closed, this surface undergoes considerable
friction against the front part of the action, and,
if not properly lubricated, it will wear. For this purpose,
you can use dry lube (grease) or regular gun oil. This
is one of the most important (and, curiously, one of
the most overlooked!) maintenance tips for doubles.
Also, apply a little oil around the hinge pins, the
ejectors and the fore-end lug.
As far as the action, you should
be aware that in most Premium models the action is
kept "in the white" (i.e.
not blued). This means that if it is not lightly lubricated
at all times, rust will develop rather quickly. A
very light coat of oil is usually enough to prevent
rust - which you can apply with a soft cloth or paper
towel. If rust were to develop on the action or sidelocks,
you can gently rub it away with fine steel-wool dipped
in gun oil.
Before you store your Premium gun, make sure that all
exposed metal surfaces are lightly oiled. Don't forget
the trigger guard, both inside and outside.
As
far as wood, your gun should not require special attention
beyond normal, common-sense care. Do not leave your
gun exposed to sun-rays (especially in a vehicle!) and
make sure you always dry the stock with a soft towel
if it should get wet in the field. When you apply oil
to the metal parts, do not be afraid of the oil coming
into contact with the wood - good-quality gun oil will
not damage it.
If in doubt, always refer to your Premium gun's instruction
manual, which you should find in the box.

maintenance of your Beretta Premium gun, feel free to
