The replacement bolt shroud I bought is made of metal and is much better than the plastic bolt shroud that came on my Tikka T3 lite. It appears to be well made and very sturdy. I replaced the original bolt shroud because when a primer blew out of the Nosler brass, in270 Winchester, the plastic bolt shroud blew off the bolt and sheared its plastic locking collar, rendering the plastic bolt shroud unusable. The load I was using was 1.5 grains below max in the Barnes reloading manual and caused me to throw out the remaining 90 pieces of Nosler brass. Many of the primer pockets had become loose in just two reloading. The plastic bolt shroud apparently isn't a very suitable component as you can't buy one as a replacement part. I feel much safer with metal parts next to my face and eyes.
