Description Expand Content Trigger

Uberti’s 1847 Walker became an instant favorite by appearing in John Wayne's True Grit and Clint Eastwood's The Outlaw Josey Wales.  It is a premium-grade working replica of the iconic .44 caliber cap and ball revolver that Texas Ranger Captain Samuel Walker co-designed with firearms genius Samuel Colt.

The result was a physically impressive handgun that has since become iconic in both American history and Western movies. While only a few were manufactured (making them breathtakingly expensive on the collector’s market), the Walker was a successful design on which subsequent models like the Dragoon were based. As with all their replicas, Uberti has done the majestic 1847 full justice: the replica is exact in every detail, while being manufactured with today’s best steels to ensure maximum accuracy, reliability, safety and durability.

Beautiful finish

Beautiful finish, both the grips and blue. Also this thing is huge, 4.5 lb and 15.5in in length. I was amazed at how accurate it was with round ball and 45gr pyrodex loads. This is a real pleasure to shoot.

Great build quality, but the case hardening finish is too delicate.

The gorgeous charcoal case hardening finish rubs off these way too easily, especially when they are carried almost daily. I put conversion cylinders in a lot of these replicas. They make a decent carry gun too. All in all they are just a joy to take out camping, riding, hiking, biking, and traveling. Unfortunately the finish starts coming off, and i wind up redoing it, using a fire pit, a blower, and home made charcoal. The final tempering is electrically done using and older, but still state of the art, and very precise (and expensive) high frequency inductive hardening machine. This puts a superior temper in the steel, by carefully controlling the heating and cooling process. Once treated, these guns are better than ever. I doubt a load of modern powder could blow one up, but I won't advocate trying it. Black powder is a state of mind, and I don't mind getting sooty.
