This .44 caliber revolver was born of technological advances in metallurgy and, to some degree, in response to a demand for hard hitting, powerful firearms that could somehow be more sleek and lightweight than the old Dragoons. The 1860 Army calls to mind power, balance and beauty. Considered a trophy on the battlefields of the Civil War, this gun saw much use on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line. It proved its worth time and time again and was often carried West to the frontier after the war. Used by some of the biggest and the baddest gunmen of those times, the 1860 Army in all its configurations was a powerful ally in the hands of a gunfighter or frontiersman facing down the odds in the lawless West.

Nice!!

Review:

Alright, let me begin by saying after sending back TWO Pietta 1860 Colts to Cabelas, I knew I wanted to try Uberti.

The box had seen better days, but it's a box...who cares. The 1860 was amazing! The quality far surpasses Pietta. There were no sanding marks on the barrel, not one little ding or mar anywhere... unlike the Piettas. The wood grips were finished in some type of lacquer /varnish /poly(??)compared to the oil finish of Pietta, and feels much nicer! I would have given it 4.5 stars. My ONLY complaint is that the left side of the hammer scrapes on one tiny burr, which can't be felt but it's left a small line on the hammer. The trigger pull is very clean and light. As light as my 1858 that I modified. The hammer pull, is clean and snappy. The pull is harder than my 58, but it feels more "positive." The wedge pin actually came out by hand. NO pounding with rubber mallets. It was a decently hard push, which I think is perfect. ALL the nipples came out with my Traditions nipple wrench. Some were snug, others were easy to remove. None did any damage to my soft wrench.

LOVE IT!! Sorry for not 5 stars...I'm picky. BUT, LOVE IT!!
