I didn't alter it in any way. Two 3" brass wood screws with bass collars snugged it into drilled pressure formed /epoxy wood stock of target rifle 30-06. It's probably made for a Beretta shotgun where the plastic surrounds would be recessed into the butt when tightened. Rubber good grade, flexible but tough. Nicely shaped top to bottom. I slid another rubber sleeve over it to handle recoil of heavy target Enfield barrel & receiver (15+ LBS!) On sale & less than $20 so what's to complain about? Just OK for now.
